Mt. Krumpet is a pile of snow created annually by one of our members. It is a completely unscientific, unplanned, and not designed feature that is the result of randomly moved snow from a driveway to a front lawn in Washburn. With origins dating back to 2011, Washburn’s Mt. Krumpet, has over the years, been a subject of interest of Facebook friends, and various Facebook posts have, in the past, allowed persons to, in fun, guess what its height will be on March 5. Past results have been from zero feet (last year) to 15 feet. This year, the Rotary Club of Washburn has adopted the mountain as a winter spirit booster for the community and a potential FUNdraiser with proceeds going toward funding Rotary Club of Washburn community service projects.
For a $5 donation on this page, you can venture your guess of Mt. Krumpet’s elevation on March 5, 5:00 PM. The person who comes closest without going over (price is right style) will receive 50% of the donations received, up to $100. In the event of a tie, a decision will be made on the winner by a computer generated random number generator or a roll of the dice. Photos of Mt. Krumpet will be posted on this page weekly.
In order to maintain impartiality of the mountain crew, your entry will be kept confidential until March 5. The mountain crew consists of one member’s snowblower and another member's tractor, so there will be an altitude greater than zero at the end of the contest, unless Aroostook County is totally green. If The County is totally green, winner will be determined by drawing.
State your guess in feet and whole inches (no fractions, please). Vote early and as often as you like. THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING ROTARY CLUB OF WASHBURN !
